UCS Virtual Machine Manager (UVMM) is an easy-to-use and powerful administration tool for Xen and KVM. It virtualizes Microsoft Windows, Univention Corporate Server and other Linux distributions by providing all the necessary functions for creating and managing virtual instances and hard drives on physical servers centrally.
It is included in Univention Corporate Server (UCS) by default, an Enterprise Linux distribution with an integrated management system and can be operated directly via the web-based Univention Management Console of UCS. Administrators benefit from the uncomplicated, standardised administration of physical servers and the virtual instances running on them as well as the ready-to-use, preconfigured configuration profiles.
Important functions at a glance:
Virtualization of Microsoft Windows, UCS and other Linux distributions;
High degree of flexibility when selecting virtualization technologies such as KVM and Xen thanks to the use of the standardized
virtualization interface Libvirt;
Comprehensive functions for the creation and central administration of virtual instances and hard drives, such as the starting, stopping, pausing, deleting, migrating and cloning of virtual systems;
Integral, standardised administration interface for different virtualisation technologies (Xen and KVM);
Status overviews for physical servers and virtual instances at a glance: the administrator receives an overview of the resource utilisation of the physical servers and the available virtual instances on them (CPU and memory utilisation);
Quick set-up of new virtual instances using preconfigured profiles, which can be adapted individually as required;
Central administration of hard drive images: create new hard drive images and assign them to a virtual instance;
Migration of running virtual instances from one physical server to another;
Central administration of virtualisation servers in a cluster;
Support of paravirtualisation for more efficient hardware utilisation
